MEMBERS BEWARE!

Item #1

A person claiming to be a Bell technician will call you and ask you to dial a number such as 90# so they can test your line. When you do this, the person on the other end can capture enough information to somehow make long distance calls which will be charged to your line in the future. If anyone calls and requests this information, hang up immediately.

Item #2

A person will call and ask you for the make and model number of your fax machine, or photo copier, along with your personal information. They may say that they work for a copier maintenance company, or are conducting a survey. They will then send a large overpriced package of supplies to your address claiming that you verified it with the information you gave them. Individuals are not as vulnerable to this scam as small companies in which many people answer the phone. For example: Sue answers the phone and gives the information one day. In a few days the supplies show up and Fred receives them. He sees Sue's name and their copier information and thinks nothing of it. He accepts the supplies and pays for them.
