The iMac

Imac's "PowerPC" G3 chip more than twice as fast as the Intel Celeron processor in most home computers. Amazingly, it even outperforms the 400MHz Pentium II processors in high-end PCs.
These are some of the claims that are being made in the adds we see for the iMac.
Here is a look at what the iMac has:
Price is about $1990.00
(15" diagonally, 13.8" viewable) 1024x 768 monitor
built-in stereo SRS surround-sound speakers
dual headphone jacks let you and a buddy
built-in 10/100-Mbps Ethernet connection
built-in 56K modem keeps things moving fast
4-gigabyte hard disk
32 megabytes of memory (expandable to 128)
24x CD-ROM drive.
USB ports, you can add up to 127 devices simply by plugging them in, printers, disk drives (like Zip and SuperDisk), scanners, joysticks, digital cameras and more. In fact, you can plug and unplug all you want-no restarting needed the keyboard has an extra USB port, so you can conveniently plug in other devices (like a digital camera or joystick).
And a built-infrared connection lets you zap files to and from a PowerBook
And it comes complete with many software titles including Apple Works Microsoft Internet Explorer, Quicken Deluxe 98, Kai's Photo Soap SE, two hot new games (Nanosaur and MDK) and the very tasty Williams-Sonoma Guide to Good Cooking.

JOKE OF THE MONTH

A man and women walking along a boardwalk by the seashore, were taken back by a tiny voice saying "Please pick me up & kiss me" Looking down they spied a frog, who then said, "please kiss me and the curse will be lifted and I'll become a beautiful women". The guy picked up the frog & put it in his pocket. His wife asked "Aren't you going to kiss her?" Hell no, he replied, I'd rather have a talking frog!!

COMPUTER SHOW

On Sunday Nov. 1st the Windsor PC Users Group was represented at the Computer Fair held at the Caboto Club. We had a display consisting of a Dell XPS D300 showing digital photo editing, a 266 MHz Celeron with a DVD drive showing the movie "Blown Away", and other miscellaneous computer peripherals. Larry Ruston, Dan Tannous and I staffed the display to answer questions from show attendees. The show was well attended with many people showing interest in our club. We may have many new people at our next meeting. Other displays at the show included various PC and peripheral vendors, software distributors, computer service businesses (Internet service providers, Web design, on-line banking, printer cartridge refills) If you can, plan to attend the next show! I would like to thank Larry Ruston and Dan Tannous for their time taken to work at the show.
Other Club Items
We have being informed by THE P.C. DOCTOR that he thinks by us using the term P.C. M.D on our web page with the picture of a doctor we created that we are trying to rip him off. This was not our intent nor do we see it that way. Your input on the matter needed.
