At
Our Last Meeting we were given some sad news. Jack Mayberry
passed away, as well as at the time of this writing we have lost Jim
Ouellette from our ranks. On behalf of the executive members,
our thought and prayers go out to their family. Both Jack and
Jim will be sadly missed at our meetings. At the last meeting, I showed off a website called Vector Magic (www.vectormagic.com) for converting Bitmap images to Vector images. Vector graphic are very useful in scaling logos and non photographic images. The image to the right shows the difference between vector and bitmap images. I also showed a program called Inkscape . Inkscape allows you to edit vector images. As always our Gadget Guru Larry brought in a handly little piece of tech for the couch potato. He brought in an over the air USB Digital TV reciever. With this device you can connect it to your computer and receive off the air digital broadcasts. It also allows you to record shows and has a handy program guide with is broadcast with Digital TV. I don't have all the specifics on this item, but I will be sending Larry an email and updating this area once I get the details on it. |
Song Bird is a free software media player and web browser developed by a group known as Pioneers of the Inevitable (with members who previously developed for both Winamp[1] and the Yahoo! Music Engine), with a stated mission "to incubate Songbird, the first Web player, to catalyze and champion a diverse, open Media Web." | |
Users can add features and change
functionality in Songbird by installing extensions. Community coded
extensions are available on Songbird's addons support page. Known
community designed extensions are: Qloud Tagging & Search, eMusic
Integration, iTunes
Importer, iPod
Device, Artist Tracker, Library File Organizer, Audioscrobbler
Notifier, Wikipedia
Artist Display, SHOUTcast
Radio Directory, UnPlug, Adblock
Plus, Taglib metadata
handler and Minimize-to-Systemtray, and ChatZilla.
Skins are referred to as "feathers" in Songbird, and give users and artists the ability to change the look of Songbird via an extension which generates a default skin. Then with the knowledge of CSS (and optionally XUL) and the use of an image manipulation program such as Photoshop or the GIMP, users are able to make Songbird look however they want. |
Revo
Uninstaller helps you to uninstall and remove unwanted programs
installed on your computer even if you have problems uninstalling and
cannot uninstall them from "Windows Add or Remove Programs" control
panel applet. Revo Uninstaller is a much faster and more powerful alternative to "Windows Add or Remove Programs" applet! |
|
With its advanced and fast algorithm, Revo
Uninstaller analyzes an application's data before uninstall and scans
after you uninstall an application. After the program's regular
uninstaller runs, you can remove additional unnecessary files, folders
and registry keys that are usually left over on your computer.
Even if you have a broken installation, Revo Uninstaller scans for an application's data on your hard disk drives and in the Windows registry and shows all found files, folders and registry keys so you can delete them. With its unique "Hunter mode", Revo Uninstaller offers you some simple, easy to use, but effective and powerful approaches to manage (uninstall, stop, delete, disable from auto starting) and to get information about your installed and/or running programs. |

At our last meeting we had our elections.
After year of excellent service by our president Larry, he decided that
it was time to hand the club over to someone else... That someone,
myself (Mike). I would just like to thank Larry for everything he has
done since I have become a member at WPCUG and I hope that I can live
up to the high standard that he has set. Also we have a new
treasurer in Scott Turner. So the executive of WPCUG now
looks like this:
